Dear Andy (Version 1)

There are several versions of Dear Andy. Version 1 is a permanent work while the others were created as ephemeral, site-specific works.

The text for Dear Andy has two sources. One is a letter written by Valerie Solanas to Andy Warhol in 1967. In it she asks Andy if he wants to join S.C.U.M (Society for Cutting Up Men). The work also includes a drawing, most likely by Solanas, of a hand giving β€œthe finger.” The drawing was used in a poster to both raise money and advertise her manifesto.
